Shimbashi Station (新橋駅 Shinbashi-eki) is a major interchange station in Tokyo Minato Ward. Located centrally and a 10-minute walk from the Ginza shopping district, directly south of Tokyo station as its shown in Shimbashi station map. Shimbashi station is the original terminus of Japan first stretch of railway, the Tōkaidō Main Line, and is one of Japan oldest stations (the oldest station being Shinagawa, a few kilometres down the line). The original Shimbashi Station, opened on October 10, 1872, was built some way to the east of the modern-day structure and was known as Shimbashi Teishajō (新橋停車場).

Shimbashi Station is close to both the shopping mecca that is Ginza and the gleaming skyscrapers of Shiodome as its mentioned in Shimbashi station map. The Shimbashi district itself, around the station is typically where company workers eat, shop and drink. Shimbashi Station also has two Tokyo subway lines: the Toei Asakusa Line, and the Ginza Line for access to Asakusa in the east or Shibuya in the west.
 
Shimbashi Station is a major rail intersection in Tokyo connecting with the circular JR Yamanote Line (2 stops from Tokyo Station), the Tokaido Line for trains to Fujisawa, Hiratsuka, Odawara and Atami, the Yokosuka Line for Yokohama and down to Kamakura and Yokosuka, and the Keihin-Tohoku Line for trains to Shinagawa, Yokohama Station, and Ofuna as you can see in Shimbashi station map.
